September 16, 2008

Today was the most glorious day in Athens . . . . a cool breeze blowing and 72 degrees! My Mom and Joan Jones are coming tomorrow from Carrollton to spend two nights with me at ZTA Resort and Spa. I'll report on that next time. The girls do have a special sign for them - I know they will love!!!

Charlee, McGregor, Courtney and Lauren at EX Date Night with Miss Becky @ ZTA!

The EX's and Miss Becky during Date Night.

Since I have last checked in I have had 2 Date Nights With Miss Becky at ZTA and both were marvelous.

Just to explain - every Tuesday night I invite 10-12 young men over to dinner from a particular fraternity so that they can meet my ZTA gals. The gals love it as do the gentlemen. Thus far, I have been fortunate to have a connection at most of the frat houses. I'll know someones son, someone from my neighborhood, the AAC or whatever. I have my contact determine our guest list of 'non-attached' young men. They come to ZTA at 6:00. We all meet in the living room and I introduce my contact friend. He then introduces himself by telling his hometown and where he went to high school, where he lives now, and a fun fact. These are hysterical. This is the routine for all of the guys.

At dinner, only 1-2 guys can sit at each of our dining room tables so they can get to know the gals. During dinner they get to ask the questions. By the end of dinner everyone knows each other, they are making plans to see each other at upcoming socials, etc. It has been very successful and we are already booked every Tuesday through November 18. We will start again next semester. At the end of the school year we will host the "Invitational" - we'll invite those gentlemen that we were most impressed with who have become our friends and that are really nice guys.

Last week we had some young men from Kappa Sig over for dinner . . . but they kept multiplying. I realized about half way through the introductions that many of the guys were texting. I thought it was kind of rude . . . but whatever. Actually what was happening, as I discovered later, was that they were getting in touch with other brothers from the house and telling them to get over to ZTA!!!

The were real charmers when they were sharing their fun fact. One guy said that his favorite thing to do was to taking long, moonlit walks on the beach and that his favorite book was The Notebook. The next guy said that his fun fact was that he needed a date for Thursday night for KE's Date Night . . . and the next one said that . . . . and the next . . . and you get the picture. We adjourned from the living room, and began dinner. Three young men came in and approached me and said they were so sorry they were ate but could they please join us now. Then five minutes later 4 more guys came. Before dinner was over we had 20 KE's having dinner with us.

Just before dessert I asked our newcomers to stand and introduce themselves; they gave their name and immediately said that they wanted ZTA dates for Thursday night as well. so I did what any good House Mom would do; I kind of auctioned them off. 9 dates were arranged and I understand fun was had by all!

Tonight we entertained the Sigma Chi's. This was a blast for me as I had Tat and Howell Thompon's son, McGregor, in charge of the evening with Sigma Chi. We had a great group and they were fabulous - lots of laughter and what seemed to be an extended dinner hour! My cute friend Webb Worthington was also with us and he had come straight from UGA Dive practice. ZTA actually has a Social with EX on Thursday so plans were being made all around.

Go DAWGS!!!

L&K, Becky
