I'm Still Here . . . Just lots going on!

Ok, Ok . . . I will catch you all up with life in Athens and around! Thanks for the calls, e-mail, texts, etc. - I am marvelous, just have been busy in Athens. But here's a recap of the highlights.

CHAPTER 1 - We have had INCREDIBLE SNOW!!!!!
The snow was beautiful and it hit us on a jammed packed weekend. It was ZTA Parents weekend.

Katie and Harrison, Mom, Joan Jones, Jackie and Skip Yow came to visit and enjoy all of the weekend festivities.

I hosted a Meet & Greet at ZTA on Saturday afternoon for all the parents. And then we ran to the UGA Gym Dogs meet - Harrison's first! He was soooooo excited. In fact, many of his co-workers had told him how jealous they were that he was getting to go! Suzanne [Gym Dogs head coach] and I chatted about the Gym Dogs and her 26 years of coaching. The meets have all the bells and whistles; indoor fireworks, music like a rock star is getting ready to take the stage . . . it's pretty snazzy!

Later on we celebrated Mums birthday with dinner downtown and then headed to Tasty World for the ZTA Band Party. Joan, Mums & Skip at DePalma's.Joan got carded going into Tasty World . . . she loved it . . said it made her day!

We left the ZTA party, the parents went home and we continued the night with friends at The Hedges. Howell Thompson and Dot Turrentine were in town for EX Mother's weekend. Dot and I, along with our buddy Tat Thompson, have been named official Ambassadors of Happiness. We do our best to live up to the responsibility.

Harrison, Katie, Katie Cloud & Joe Turrentine. [PS- Joe leaves for Hawaii June 1 to work with Teach For America for 2 years!!!]

Sunday Morning ZTA hosted a Brunch for 400! All of the parents loved it; my staff was exhausted. However, I had to make my way to Stegman Coliseum for the UGA Dance Dogs Mother Daughter half-time show during the UGA basketball game . . . . and I was one of the Mothers! It was tons of fun!

One month of practicing the two numbers and 1 minute 29 seconds of fame . .. dancing before an UNpacked house because of the snow. One of my gals, Kelsey, asked me to sub for her Mom. She said that I didn't embarrase her!  Thank goodness!

CHAPTER 2 - "SB09" - That's what the kids call Spring Break . . so yes I "took" Spring Break. While most of my girls were heading to Key West, Aspen, Destin, Boca, etc, I headed to Carrollton, Buckhead and Johns Creek! SB09 began with a family celebration with the Clouds. Dottie turned 7 and Tommy turned anther year older as well. We had so much fun together. Gran Dempsey [pink top center], DoDo Cloud [3rd from left back row], Tom & Polly with Katie, Alix & Tommy and all the grandkids and grand dogs and me!

Bubbles contest with Tripp, Dottie, Neil & Bert Cloud.

Susan Stewart Miller hosted a Tri Delta luncheon - lots of laughter, funny stories and just fun being together.
Marcia Phillips Kaplan, Babs Marshall Howard, Pam Oglesby Elmore, Donna Luke Sands, me, Madeline Tuck Waldrop, Kathy Tolleson Jollay, Lynn Craddock Lanier, Susan Stewart Miller and Honey Hubbel Shackelford.

Then on to Carrollton . . . . . . . and Tucker's junior high school baseball games.

Mums, Tucker, me and Pat.

Back in Buckhead I spent two nights with Katie and Harrison. We paid a visit to Katie & Harrison at their high rise condo. And we did manage to have a very eventful 'Girls Night Out'.Deb, Katie C, Katie T, Cindy, Polly, Caroline and me . We MISSED ANNE! But CONGRATS to Anne and her new job in Knoxville!!!!!!!

One night Harrison took us on a camping adventure . . . who knew?

There are places to camp in Atlanta.

CHAPTER 3 - I had house guests this weekend in Athens . . . Barbara Small Lewis and Dot Turrentine were in town for Phi Mu parents weekend. I was Barbara's date on Friday night for an event and then on Saturday I was Johnny Turrentine. We missed you Johnny but I had a grand time being you! Saturday afternoon, Barbara, Cat and I and went to the UGA baseball game against Mississippi State - victory for the Dawgs!

I also ran into Bill Waters and Andy [Sarge] Davis at the Phi Mu house. Hadn't seen them in years, fun to catch up. They both have freshman Phi Mu daughters!

ZTA has 2 players on the UGA Women's Lacrosse team. I managed to squeeze in their afternoon game and see UGA win over Vanderbilt. Here I am with Lindsey Gipson; Lindsey played at Northview HS.

Saturday Night was all about Motown! Miss Ann, me and Barbara!

Barbara, Cat's date Gunner and Cat

Dotsy, MA's date Thomas, and Mary Ann

That's mostly it - I do have to keep a few secrets just for myself!
So in conclusion . . . I am so lucky to have this position at ZTA!  The girls are a blessing, even when they leave bowls all over the house.

Sigma Chi Derby week starts tomorrow - now doesn't that bring back memories to a few of us?

My staff is first rate [I hope you all can have a staff at some point in your life - it is a GIFT from above].

I continue to work with Sherry Whitehurst Gaby, Sandy Bossert Boyles and Karen Schofield as we try to renovate and expand the current Tri Delta house. I never knew that having something approved by local government was so challenging. The good news is that I know that we are doing something productive and good for these young women and also for the city of Athens. I am just prayerful that all parties can get on the same page. Timing is everything and we are set to be on the agenda of ACC Board of Commissioners April 7.

My weekly meeting of the DAMN girls is great fun. [Dinner And Movie Night]. I must get a picture of us for the next posting.

Keep my Mom is your prayers. She has been in the hospital in Carrollton for the past several days trying to regulate some medications. She is in great spirits and just wants to have everything in tip top shape!

Classes continue through May 1; the students leave by May 9. Then SUMMER!

My life is richer because of you wonderful friends. There is still time to make a quick trip to Athens . . . the door is always open. Miss you and thanks for staying in touch!

Love and kisses, Becky
