24 Hours in Athens - - -WOW

Good Morning!!!!!!! Since we've last chatted, the last 24 hours have been action packed. Last night we had Theta Chi Date Night with Miss Becky. Very nice young men that I didn't know well. In fact, one of the guys Dad is Peter Hayes, a EX from my time. His son Ben is a chip off the old block - literally. Crazy and funny. After dinner we had ZTA Pumpkin carving - they had a ton of fun; fortunately I could leave that in good hands and scoot off to the Vienna Boys Choir concert at Hodgon Symphonic Hal on UGA's campus

They were FABULOUS! Such sweet voices. They sang in many different languages and ended up with the Beatles "Imagine". This morning I welcomed the

World Walk Samaritans Feet Team
to breakfast at 8 after we had walked a mile down Milledge. Manny, a young man from Lagos, Nigeria is spear-heading the event. He received his first pair of shoes at 8 years old from a stranger to his country from Wisconsin. It was a great experience - I am thankful that the girls and I got to participate - even though early for me! SamartansFeet.org for more info

I am off to my tennis match, Bowling philanthropy tonight for Tri Delta as they raise money for Relay for Life and then I said I would help judge a pumpkin carving contest down the street. In the words of a dear friend, "I think a nap is in order after that."

Happy day to everyone! L&K, Becky

Polly Jean's First Game

Saturday was great fun for Polly Jean as this was her first official time inside of Sanford Stadium!

She and her Dad had a wonderful time. Here's a few pics to prove it!

Hey PJ . . . . It's great to be a Georgia Bulldog!

Happy Homecoming! Go DAWGS!

Homecoming at UGA is always so much fun; especially this year at ZTA as all of the girls had many, many plans and it was so much fun to be a part of their lives. Polly & Tom, Tat & Howell, Dot & Johnny made their way into Athens for the parade on Friday afternoon - but the rain had a different idea.

Tat, Becky & Polly looking mighty good at the EX party.

After Transmet, Hilltop, EX house for karaoke . . . we went downtown to Sideways for one last bit of Homecoming. Tons of people; alumnae and collegiate alike. When you're in Athens for Homecoming it's like we're all students again - just a great time.

Gameday at EX - Molly, Miss Becky, Perrin & Mallory.

A Week in Review

I have joined a USTA tennis team out of Bishop Park. Great group of ladies that are tons of fun. Thus far I have a 2-1 record; had 2 matches this week. On Tuesday played against a team from Athens Country Club - the current Mrs. Georgia, Sherry Goggin, and Mary Donan, Coach Jim Donan's wife. Happy to report that my partner and I won in a third set tie-breaker.

Yesterday had a match against another team from the ACC - one of those gals had us measure the height of the net. She was concerned that the net was too high and would affect her "consistent slice returns that she puts low over the net." My partner and I just cracked up. We won in three sets . . . . . so much for her low slice returns! Frankie - you would have just loved winning that match!!!!!

Katie & Harrison came for the TN game; finally a victory after 2 years in the hole! Go Dawgs!

We also had fun with Karen Lock, Kate and Caroline Lites.

ZTA celebrated Founders Day on Monday; we had a Tri Delta community meeting a the Five Points Fire Station to show the neighbors our plans for renovation; definite convertible weather in Athens; the gals are building their homecoming float with ATO; tonight UGA is having a special time to look through this giant telescope at the university and a bunch of us are going; Tat and Howell, Tom & Polly and group will all meet at Transmetropolitan for cocktails to watch the homecoming parade tomorrow afternoon and then we have reserved a spot at Shokitini - a place for karaoke that the kids love!!! This weekend we are hosting another Breakfast Tailgate at ZTA before the game; EX Parents and Alumnae party and auction at the Classic Center on Saturday night after the game.

My Theta and my ZTA . . . Traci and Carson are UGA Georgettes

Well . . . . that's about it for now. Love and kisses from Athens and the ZTA House!

Bet you wish you'd been with me for the UGA Men's Swim/Dive Team Date Night!!!

15 very nice UGA athletes had dinner with me and the ZTA gals last night as we continue to host Tuesday Night Date Night with Miss Becky and her gals! Joining us for dinner were Sean McDevitt, Hunter Lainhart, James Atkinson, Neil Versfeld, Webb Worthington, Miss Becky, Kevin Frankenfeld, Martin Kata, Peter Benner, Tim Barrett, Mark Dylla, Billy Cregar, Mikey Larmoyeux, Richmond Green [swimmer from Westminster], and Chris Spooner.

Olympian, Neil Versfeld, shows off his Olympic Rings to Nicole!

My precious friend, Webb Worthington, Dunwoody / Wesleyan / EX, was a great host and made all of this happen!

UGA House Mothers

House Moms Mara @ SDT; Mary Gannon @ AOPi, Becky and Ann @ Phi Mu.
The CEO's of all the sorority houses in Athens met for lunch at the Athens Country Club last week to discuss how many socials we have had; how many times the girls have set off the security alarm when they are coming in very, very late; how may gals no-show dinner; how many have left their phones in the cab; what they're going to wear to the football games; who's going out with whom; where the best place to stay for the GA-FLA game will be; what to wear for Halloween on 'Frat Beach" at St Simons; where to go for the best fake tan; and who's gong to win Greek Grind.

House Mom's Dottie @ Tri Delta, Evelyn @ Pi Phi, Nena @ Alpha Gam, Amy @ KD, Marilyn @ DG & Ann @ Phi Mu.

At ZTA, Nicole is taking Japanese; Kalen had to go home because she got really, really sick and I called her Mom to come and get her! Addison has decided that she really doesn't like having a boyfriend after all [reference my very first entry]. Jillian has been nominated for Miss Sorority Row.

ZTA is paired up with ATO for all the Homecoming festivities; they'll be building the float in the parking lot here next week.
And more importantly . . ZTA's national philanthropy is Breast Cancer Awareness [October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month]. They have tons of things planned for the last 2 weeks in October. They are blanketing the women on campus with 'shower cards' on how to self exam; they are collecting Yoplait yogurt tops that represent $$$ for each lid turned in to Yoplait. Keri organized and is chairing the newly formed UGA chapter of International Justice Mission-working with battered women.

Life is always fun and exciting at ZTA and on Milledge . . . come visit soon.

Life after Alabama . . . .

We are all just now getting over the weekend with Alabama . . . . but we did have fun! There were 100's of fans downtown on Friday night.

Howell, Dot, Polly & Becky with friends @ Sideways.

Tim & Amy Cloud and me at La Dolce Vita.

Jim and Tucker and Katie all came for the weekend and we had a full house at ZTA. Our first weekend without our beloved Lary Munson!

Griffin, Tucker, Jim, Katie and Becky

Katie and I went to a tailgate Party with the Marist and Atlanta crowd.

Becky & Taylor Ashendorf.
Game Day welcomed ESPN's crew to the Myers Quad . . . students began lining up at 4 am to secure their spot near the stage. We all had HIGH HOPES that the day would be perfect. The company was perfect . . . . it was just the game score that was the killer!

The Mom/Daughter teams met at Sigma Chi; Dot & Mary Ann, Katie & Becky, Katie & Polly.

Well, you can't win 'em all, but we certainly wanted to! Go DAWGS!
