I am doing great - I have 52 sophomores & 8 juniors [officers] living in the ZTA house and life is always full of life - that I am loving!!!!! The girls are precious and seem so happy to have someone in the house that listens to their requests and is trying to make life homey/fun for them at UGA.
Since I have gotten here I have been working with a hand-picked new staff of five - well . . . that is what I started with but I have already let one go . . . she seemed to disappear on me up on the top floor and she told me that she couldn't mop or sweep because it hurt her back; also she couldn't dust because it required her have to take 2 Clariton at night. Go figure . . . .
We have completed rush and have 57 new freshman.
Life as the chief executive officer of the ZTA Resort and Spa is interesting every single day. Since I am such a chef aficionado, the menu's are fabulous - they really must have been suffering last year because they are loving everything that I have planned. I highly recommend that everyone have a staff - this is a big part that was missing from my former life, and I must say that I really like it.
Things were very busy here yesterday with surprise fire department inspections, sink backing up in the kitchen, sprinkler system inspections plus all the usual - 3 meals, 4 drama events, running out of lettuce and and new requests for rice milk. Another typical day in the life of the CEO.
We have 225 signed-up for the Tailgate Breakfast I have planned for Saturday morning at 8:30 before the game - ZTA's, dates, parents, friends, etc. I have hired a cute student [Pi Kap] to play the piano with my favorite GA tunes and beach music. When you are in charge you get to pick the music and the food!!!!! If you're in Athens, please stop by -anytime before 10.
There is always drama - Addison has a new boyfriend and Courtney has just broken up with her boyfriend of two years. We had a social with Theta Chi last Thursday night but they didn't reserve the upstairs room of Generals [downtown bar] correctly so it was a bust but we are hoping for better things from Pi Kap this Thursday night. Last night was the first chapter dinner with 165 coming to eat [chicken enchiladas and home made sopapillas]. . . tonight is the first official Date Night with Miss Becky and we have 12 DTD guys coming over for dinner. Our Lauren dates the President so we thought that would be a good place to start; Banks Deal is supposedly coming tonight - [Jimmy & Tanya's son];
next week is Lambda Chi . . . . . . all is well.
The girls really are great and of course there are a few that I find myself more attached to than others. About 20 of them took me to the movie late Sunday afternoon to see House Bunny - the unbelievably stupid movie about a Playboy Bunny that becomes the ZETA House Mom. I did tell them that if they could make me look the way that the House Mom did in the movie, I would allow them to have a party just like the one in the movie before I was fired.
I have 5 new House Gents [house boys seem so trailer park] that I am training - one is Mitch Touart who is the son of Mitchell and Linda who I was at UGA with - he's a doll. All five either went to Milton, Chattahoochee or Centennial High School.
There is a group of us that walk every night after dinner [ZTA Spa part] - up and down Milledge - the place to go; everyone is out and about and it really is fun. Katie Cloud has joined me for dinner at ZTA and we have joined the YMCA. It is certainly NOT the Atlanta Athletic Club - Katie commented that we are sure spoiled with its amenities - but it's just fine. I've joined the First Baptist Church of Athens and am really enjoying my Sunday School class.
I spent one weekend in Atlanta at my new home, the famous Cloud Bed & Breakfast. I am happy to report that I have my very own digs - a lovely appointed bedroom with a large but cozy living room, complete with flat screen and Polly's new Wii. She has even given me instructions on how to sing and dance with the Wii and I have written instructions on how to turn on the TV.
Cindy Lites came up and gave my mini-mansion a make over; it's no doubt the best designed House Mother suite in Athens. Bridgette and Farrar have come for lunch. Jim, Pat and Tucker have already spent the night one time and are coming back for Friday night this weekend. Then we will go to the band party at Lambda Chi. Katie and Harrison are also coming this weekend and I can't wait to see them, and have them see me in my new home.
I have also been meeting frequently with the architect for Tri Delta. The plans are coming along great and we hope to begin construction in January. Athens Clark County has lovely zoning guidelines - I don;t see how all of you with builders in the family can stand all of the hoops you have to jump through.
I do have a guest bedroom at ZTA R & S so please plan to come and visit . . . . soon! Please let me know when you're here visiting children, stop by for lunch or dinner. There are marvelous places for adult beverages downtown...
Keep the e-mails and phone calls coming, I miss you all in Atlanta but nothing can be better than Athens, especially when you're raked #1 in all the polls!
